Landscapes are one of my favorite subjects because it allows me to stare at the thing I love most...nature! Living in the Southwest for many years I found it to be absolutely breathtaking. The scenery is so different than the moist wetlands and rolling hills where I grew up in the east. It is a very high, arid, moonscape in many places, full of sage and cactus, roadrunners and cottonwoods. Now that I am back East at the beach, I have the opportunity to explore water, ocean and surf!
I fell in love with the landscapes of the Southwest, and painted them frequently whil I lived there. Starry night skies, cactus, sage and lizards fascinated me and I would take long walks in nature along the many trails through the vast wide open areas of the high mountains. Equally romantic and lovely is the vacation feeling of the beach, the smell of the salty air, and the chance to offer customers special pieces to decorate their vacation homes. I like to inspire my clients to feel they are on vacation all the time!
